Jazzpodium de Tor in Enschede is, with its fifty years of existence, one of the oldest genuine jazz clubs in the Netherlands. Over that half century, almost all major national and international jazz luminaries have performed on the small, intimate stage of De Tor. They all praise the atmosphere, the ambiance, and especially the audience at De Tor. That audience, like the musicians, is very diverse. “Old hands and young guns”: of all ages and backgrounds. Students and retirees, ditch diggers and lawyers—everyone who is open to new ideas and refreshing music feels at home at De Tor.
Location
Jazzpodium de Tor in Enschede is one of the oldest jazz clubs in the Netherlands, founded at the end of the 1960s. Throughout all these years, it has been located in the characteristic building on Walstraat in Enschede. It’s a special little building, and everyone agrees on that. Inside, the atmosphere still feels a bit like a youth hangout from the 1980s. Not that time has stood still here—no, it’s more that time doesn’t have a hold here. That is mainly reflected in the unique vibe of De Tor. Regarding capacity: with 100 people seated, the venue is completely full.
