Reinier Baas
Guitarist Reinier Baas is unanimously praised for his boldness, musicality, and uniqueness. Baas delivers jazz music with a rock attitude. His quintet, The More Socially Relevant Jazz Music Ensemble, was called ‘the hippest and most exciting jazz band in the Netherlands’ by Volkskrant. This band features young ‘all stars’ Ben van Gelder and Maarten Hogenhuis (alto saxophones), Sean Fasciani (double bass), Mark Schilders (drums), and Reinier Baas himself on guitar. In November 2012, his second album titled Mostly Improvised Instrumental Indie Music was released, described as “one of the best records of the past year” (Trouw).
