About the VNJJ Association

The industry association VNJJ – Association of Dutch Jazz Venues and Jazz Festivals – was founded in 1996 (originally named VIP) as a membership organization for Dutch jazz venues. The VNJJ advocates for and supports Dutch jazz venues and jazz festivals. Its core focus is strengthening healthy and dynamic connections within the sector. Central to this are the three key groups: promoters (venues, festivals, clubs, music cafés), musicians, and audiences. Our core tasks are:

a. Support for our members through knowledge sharing in the areas of fundraising, programming, marketing, business models, and (inter)national networking.

b. Representation with funding bodies and government authorities.

c. An initiating role in audience development for the jazz genre in general.

d. Support for young, emerging jazz musicians in their artistic and business development.

Our members range from large professional venues and festivals to smaller jazz organizations and volunteer-run initiatives. We are here for jazz organizers with and without a venue.

This diversity provides an inspiring added value. We share the latest developments in the sector, best practices, and up-to-date knowledge with each other. In doing so, we aim to promote the visibility of jazz music as a performing art, further professionalization of the jazz sector, and broadening of programming.
